Professional Career

Dr. Tony Leung

Dr Leung is passionate about dentistry, enjoying the technical challenges of dentistry and Prosthodontics. He also enjoys building lasting relationships with his patients to improve and maintain their oral health as well as creating functional, aesthetically pleasing and long-lasting results.

He practiced in the Goldfields region of Western Australia for the first 7 years after graduating with a Bachelor in Dental Science. He spent five of these years running a successful dental practice.  Tony began postgraduate studies in 2010 at the University of Sydney before commencing the Doctor of Clinical Dentistry (Prosthodontics) course at the University of Adelaide in 2012.

In 2014, Dr Leung completed his final board exams for the Australian and New Zealand Academy of Prosthodontists.

Dr Leung is also the Senior Dental Officer affiliated with the Australian Defence Force in South Australia.

Professional Affiliations

Dr Leung is active in the dental profession and is currently the Vice President of the Australian Prosthodontic Society (SA Branch).  He was also a committee member of the Early Career Prosthodontist (subcommittee of the Australian and New Zealand Academy of Prosthodontists). He holds current membership with the Australian Dental Association and Australian and New Zealand Academy of Prosthodontists. Dr Leung is also a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons by examination.

Teaching

Dr Leung has regularly taught 4th and 5th year undergraduate dental students at the School of Dentistry, University of Adelaide.  He was also a sessional clinical tutor for the School of Dentistry at the University of Western Australia, the University of Adelaide and the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Sydney.

As the organiser for the Central Adelaide Dental Study Club, Dr Leung aims to provide mentorship and continuous education to dental colleagues.

Professional interest

In addition to his interest in clinical dentistry, Dr Leung has a keen interest in the research and development of dental and medical devices.  In 2014, Dr Leung started a dental and medical R&D venture which helped him to connect with valuable research affiliations from the University of Adelaide, Flinders University, UniSA, RMIT, the University of Otago, CSIRO and the Royal Adelaide Hospital.

Personal Interests

Dr Leung is youngest child of a Chinese Immigrant family from Hong Kong.  His parents are his biggest role models, instilling in him the value of hard work, persistence and empathy within him. They epitomise the saying “choose a job you love and you will never work a day in your life”.  To Tony, Prosthodontics is his vocation.

Tony fancies himself as a chef in his spare time and loves to watch cooking shows on YouTube.
